The Truth About The Hyde Amendment

Ever since President Biden has taken office, you have probably maybe heard about the Hyde Amendment, (or maybe you possibly haven't).

But what exactly IS the Hyde Amendment?

Well, the Hyde Amendment (according to The Lily), it's basically a budget rider that bans federal funds from going towards abortion services.

But, it basically has varied restrictions, depending on the makeup of Congress... (for example, it has always included exceptions for cases where abortion is "necessary" to save the pregnant person's life).

A rape and incest exception was included in 1980 but then taken out the following year. This exception wasn't included again until 1993 when Clinton, supported by strong Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress, actually threatened to take Hyde out of the budget altogether.

In a statement made by the President of the Susan B. Anthony List, Marjorie Dannenfelser states in statement,

"For more than four decades, the Hyde family of pro-life policies has kept American taxpayers out of the abortion business, with the Hyde Amendment itself saving nearly 2.5 million lives. The Biden budget throws that longstanding, bipartisan consensus out the window to fulfill a campaign promise to the radical abortion lobby,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Once a supporter of policies that protect the lives of the unborn and their mothers, President Biden today caters to the most extreme voices within his party. The majority of Americans remain opposed to taxpayer-funded abortion. We urge our congressional allies to be fearless in fighting to preserve the common-ground Hyde principle and to reject any budget that omits vital pro-life protections.”

According to The Susan B. Anthony List, polling actually shows that 77% of Americans OPPOSE using taxpayer money to promote abortions overseas, and 58% of Americans OPPOSE using taxpayer money to fund abortions in the United States.

The Republicans rightfully are pushing back against this pro-abortion advocacy with the Biden administration, (as they should).

Every life is valuable.

Every life has purpose.

The unborn deserve to be fought for and they deserve to have a voice.

Many Americans remain rightfully opposed to taxpayer funded abortion.

Abortion is a huge genocide and human rights issue that is plaguing our country and the world.

Abortion is a crime against humanity.

Every life has immense amount of purpose and value and should be defended at all costs.

Why would you want your hard earned money going towards funding abortion?

(I don't mean to freak people out), but we need to stand up for the unborn, because their lives matter.

Reach out to your public officials and tell them not to support tax payer funded abortion. (Respectfully), tell your public officials that this issue means a lot to you, and let your public officials in your state know that they work for you (because they were elected to serve you after all).

Your hard earned money should be spent towards repairing roads, helping law enforcement thrive so that they can continually protect the most vulnerable, funding libraries, and making your community a better, more safer place, etc.

Your hard earned money should NOT be going towards funding the biggest human rights threat of our time.

Life should be defended, and spoken up for.

I hope this post inspired you to stand up for life, and I hope you will try and join in on the fight with me to protect and preserve future generations.
