Remembering 9/11 19 years later the night before...

Today is September 10th, 2020.

On this day, 19 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 Firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrols. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00 AM September 11, 2001.

Since I was almost about the age of 6 years old, I always fall asleep in tears every night before 9/11. I then always wake up crying... I've felt this way since the moment I found out what happened on this day.

Many Americans across this great country remember this day. You might even remember where exactly you were, (and maybe even the outfit you might have been wearing on this day). This is a day for all Americans, regardless of our walks of life, political affiliation, our races, genders, sexual orientations, religions, etc. to reflect on what happened. This is a day where our country was under attack, and ALL Americans on this day feel what happened in a painful and numbing way. Many Americans saw what happened on 9/11, and they rushed to serve in the military, they left behind everything because they saw that our way of life was under attack, and they wanted to try and bravely secure it.

To those Americans, I don't have words, and I've made a promise that I will fight each and every day to find as much gratitude that I can to try and thank them for their courage and sacrifice. I don't have words for the Police Officers, Firefighters, and paramedics who run into danger each and everyday to keep us safe... And I don't have words for the brave active duty military members and veterans who sacrificed themselves to try and protect our way of life... except for thank you, and I hope that these brave incredible people know that I will continue to try and fight for them to have a voice, and I will fight for them each and every day.

I encourage all of you reading this to take a second and reflect on this day. America is a beacon of light that shines hope for the rest of the world. Many countries around the world look to the United States as an example of freedom and democracy. Today and September 11th are not days to get political... They are days to leave politics behind and to try and be grateful for the freedoms and rights we have as Americans. We are not Red or Blue, we are RED, WHITE AND BLUE, we are Americans.

And, as you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight in preparation for your lives tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, hug a little longer, and (please) never take one second of your life, or of your freedoms and opportunities as an American for granted.

Never forget. EVER.
